Getting started

We had a wonderful launch meeting on Friday! Thank you to all of you who were able to make it, and to those who weren't but are still participating we are excited to get you connected!
We will be opening this online Bible Study group to all of MOPS but please use this as a conversation starter with your M.A.P. partner. I will post 1-2 session per week. Each short devotion will be followed by a question for you. Please feel free to use the comment section at the bottom to post your thoughts about the article, read others thoughts, and connect more with each other. You do so by clicking on the "comments" link at the bottom.
The topic of our first study is going to be on Setting Spiritual Growth Goals. Here is an excerpt from the introduction. I hope you enjoy it!

You’ve been there, right? When you suddenly realize that for
the past five minutes you’ve been thinking of other things—
driving without paying much attention at all. Buildings,
streets, and landmarks have slipped by unnoticed.

It can be so easy to do the same thing with our spiritual
lives. Instead of living mindfully and intentionally, life
can slip by as we go through the motions on autopilot.
And someday, without quite realizing how it happened, we
realize that we’ve missed our desired destination. Instead
of having a vibrant relationship with God, we’ve landed in
mediocrity-ville. Opportunities to grow have been missed.
Chances to connect with God have slipped by unnoticed.
Life’s busyness has gotten the best of us.

It’s time right now to stop, take stock of things, and refocus
on your goal of intimacy with God. This study
is all about living intentionally. It’s about setting worthy
goals. It’s about how to reach them. And it’s a reminder
that, though we have a definite part to play, ultimately our
spiritual growth is in God’s hands.

  2. Wonderful blog site! This will be a reminder for those of us committed to prayer for the M.A.P. 4 Mops group to keep it up! Great wisdom for you young moms. May the Lord richly bless this effort for Him with lots of growth both in godly character and godly service for Him. XOXO, Mary

  3. I don’t know about the rest of you moms, but if I don’t plan for my week, my day, this hour… pretty much I get overwhelmed with all the “to do’s” I have for God and forget about the “to be” with Him. I am looking forward to what this Bible Study has to offer … showing me what goals are worthy and how to intentionally plan a life that revolves around Him. Over and over I have heard myself say how I want to be closer to God, but then life sweeps my desires aside and mediocrity-ville hits again. My earthly father’s favorite saying is “The proof of desire is in the pursuit” while my Heavenly Father promises that if I “seek Him I will find Him”. So here is me being honest, taking a real look at how much do so love Him, but finding my pursuit of Him falls short when I seek after Him all on my own efforts. I am looking forward to traveling this road with my new MAP partner as well as learning how a community of mothers can help each other draw closer to our Great Creator. Anyone else wanna’ join me? :-)

  4. This so reminds me of a great sermon I heard at Spring Hills Saturday night and have been mulling over, applying to my family, my marriage, my business - um, everything: do I live by design or by default? I know my reactionary self can either do fantastic stuff - or totally lose my temper - not so good to be relying on my reactionary self!! I want to walk in the Spirit for each moment, but to also live aware that God has a purpose for each of my moments. Excited to be part of this blog and MOPS with you guys and praying for the MAPS partnerships to bear much fruit!!

  5. Intential Living - yes! How impressive, Jesus called out 12 who still impact our world. Jeremiah 33:3 encourages us to call to God and promises responses beyond belief. M.A.P.S has doubled the number called out to learn from Jesus and they are all women!!! WOW, watch out Licking County, all 65,000 unchurched! 24 moms motivated by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit, living in the presence of God today, tomorrow, and forever.
